agenda - day 1
Developers, enterprise architects, and process automation experts from around the globe join together for this unique, interactive two-day event.
Attend live in Berlin, Germany or virtually (from anywhere!)
ONLINE
Demos
45min online only sessions. Learn how to use the latest Camunda features from Camunda employees who are building, using and hacking on Camunda products all day, every day.
IN-PERSON
Hackday
6h in-person only. A hands-on coding session working with other attendees and guided by Camunda consultants. We have two themes to inspire some creativity: tooling for migration to Camunda Platform 8 and building your own Connectors.
IN-PERSON
Workshops
45 – 90min in-person sessions only. In these sessions, you’ll either get hands-on experience with a particular topic, or interact with the creators of a particular program, feature or component of Camunda to give feedback and help define the next steps.

Opening Camunda Community Summit
---Demo: Modeling 101
Till Stadtler, Camunda
This demo will provide developers and business analysts with a solid foundation for building process models using the BPMN standard. Covering common elements such as events, tasks, gateways and sequence flows, you will learn about the benefits of the standard and how to build your own models using the Camunda 8 Web Modeler.
-Demo: Camunda Platform 8 SaaS
Joe Pappas, Camunda
Join us for a whistlestop tour of Camunda Plaform 8 SaaS and learn how its components help you design, automate, improve and manage your processes without the need for technical setup or installation. This demo will help administrators, architects, business analysts, developers and project managers new to Camunda identify and articulate the benefits – resilience, latency and security – of the SaaS edition.
-Demo: Developers, IaC, and AI, oh my!
Sean Deehan & Simon Zengerling, Camunda
-Demo: Error Handling with Operate
Marco Lopes, Camunda
Deviations from the default scenario are a common occurrence in process automation. One way to resolve these is using a BPMN error event, which allows a process model to react to errors within a task. Taking you from modelling over execution to analysis, this demo will help you understand how to identify which errors can be fixed by modelling a process in BPMN and which ones are better handled as incidents.

---Demo: Process observability and incident resolution with Operate
Gustavo Mendoza, Camunda
Have you ever faced issues with orchestration projects that span across people, systems and devices to provide visibility end to end? Operate, an integral part of Camunda Platform 8, solves this and other problems. Join this demo to learn how to check what process and decision definitions are deployed in your orchestration system, visualise the current status of instances and their history in an end-to-end view, and use process operations to modify process instances. You’ll also take your first steps with the Operate API.
-Demo: Business Intelligence with Optimize
Norman Lüring, Camunda
-Demo: What’s behind hot backups in Camunda Platform 8.2?
Ole Schönburg, Camunda
Camunda Platform 8.2 ships with hot backups, allowing operators to take backups of the entire Camunda Platform stack without service interruptions or downtime. But what exactly happens when Zeebe takes a backup and how does it ensure that the result is a consistent state of all partitions? Ole will demo the API and integration with AWS S3 to then explore exactly these topics. You will also hear about the theory of distributed snapshots, checkpoints and how safety is guaranteed when partitions communicate with each other over an unreliable network.
-Putting People First: A Human Approach to Process Automation
Christian Konrad, Camunda
This demo will make the case for an iterative, more agile approach to process automation that can be achieved by starting with human tasks and orchestration. Join us as we will showcase Form Editor and Tasklist. We will also demo conditional rendering, text formatting, live form debugging and more. Finally, you will learn how to build your own task/process application frontend using the powerful REST API.

Mark Farkas & Bastian Körber, Camunda
Prerequisites Required for this Workshop:
- Camunda SaaS account
- Coding Experience in Java
- Java 17+, Maven
- Your favorite IDE
- GitHub account
Connectors have long been in the works and are certainly one of the most exciting features in Camunda Platform 8. Join this workshop to learn how to design, develop and deploy your own connectors from scratch, as well as maintenance and troubleshooting advice. By the end you will have a fully functioning Camunda connector, ready for use.

-How to Contribute to Camunda — With or Without Code!
Nathan Loding, Camunda
Looking for ways to contribute to our community and hone your skills along the way? There are plenty of ways to get involved, including the Camunda Community Hub, codebase and documentation contributions, our meet-up program and public speaking opportunities. Nathan will discuss ideas on how to use your skills and apply them to new areas so that you will leave the workshop with a solid plan of action for your next contribution to the community.
-Let’s Doc About It: Why Great Documentation Matters and How You Can Create It
Christina Ausley, Camunda
Documentation is the backbone of any tech company, especially when so many people contribute to the stack. Let Christina guide you through the timeline of our documentation, and explain just why great documentation matters. Christina will cover three key concepts: how we have architected our documentation taking into account guidelines such as company style guides, what our goals are, and how you as the community can contribute.
